Schedule To Be Announced Soon

May is Mental Health Awareness Month in Canada and the US. It is a time to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and encourage open conversations about mental well-being. In observance of this, the Newcomer and Ethnocultural-led Mental Health sector table of Immigration Partnership Winnipeg (IPW) will be hosting a Mental Wellness Expo for Newcomers that will be livestreamed online. Please stay tuned for announcements on IPW’s social media pages for the schedule by next week.

In Winnipeg, many newcomers face mental health challenges linked to the settlement experience. Common concerns include anxiety and depression, social isolation, trauma related to pre-migration or migration experiences, financial stress, and difficulty accessing culturally appropriate services. Language barriers and stigma can also make it harder to seek help early.

Recognizing these realities is an important step toward building a more inclusive and supportive community. When we increase awareness and improve access to services, we help ensure that newcomers feel supported in their mental health journey.
