Attending the 27th Metropolis Canada Conference was an invaluable experience for the Immigration Partnership Winnipeg (IPW) team. The daily plenary session topics—Setting a Vision of Immigration for Canada’s Future, Re-establishing the Case for Immigration, and US-Canada Cooperation on Immigration Under Trump 2.0—offered critical insights into policy directions and challenges. These discussions, along with engaging breakout sessions, deepened our understanding of emerging trends, particularly in mental health, anti-racism, and inclusive service delivery.
Beyond learning, the conference strengthened our working relationships within the IPW team, allowing us to reflect collectively on our shared goals and strategies. We return to Winnipeg with fresh perspectives, stronger team cohesion, and a renewed commitment to driving meaningful change in our local newcomer support systems.
